March 09 What's at the end of your driveway?
I am done with winter. Keeping up with flooding, hurricane force winds, ice and snow hasn't even given me the chance to keep my blog up to date with pictures of all of the destruction and chaos. First the flooding in early winter.... our pond / stream was almost a good whitewater kayak run...
Then the wind storm...we lost power for 8 days... thank goodness for a natural gas generator that kept us and friends warm... One of about 12 trees we lost... If you look hard at the above photograph you'll see our perimeter fence on top of the tree's root ball
Another tree..blocking the drive-way...and through the wood fence near the entry
Yet another tree blocking the driveway... and through another section of the fence... And the snow... I've lost count of how many days of school has been missed from power outages and snow and ice. Which brings us to today in March. We got the typical February tease a couple of weeks ago with 60 degree sunny weather. And, as a typical Spring goes here in the Pacific Northwest, we are now back into cold crummy weather. Last night the snow started coming down pretty fast.... 1 inch.... 2 inches.... go to bed. I hear that it is suppose to 'warm up' so I'm hoping that the kids get to go to school and I don't have to dig my way out of our driveway. At 7AM I give up and put on my ghostbuster backpack blower... one that easily wipes out the snow with 200 mph force winds.... muhahahahahaha Feeling pretty smug that I'll make it out of my driveway before anyone else I start sketching a path to the road. It goes pretty fast....
I'll be done in minutes...
Just have the uphill left.... piece o' cake....
WHAT????????
This is ridiculous. All I can do is laugh at this point. I go up to the poor truck driver that has apparently been there all night after trying to make the turn up the hill only to slid down backwards into a jack-knife. He says that help will be on the way sometime today... he was told that the tow trucks are a bit busy with the I-90 mess from last night. What's next? Attacks from flying space monkeys? Oh.... and it just started snowing again.... March 01 test post |
